It's such a relief that the LORD looks upon the heart and not on the outward appearance. That's what we'd like friends to do. Even so, be careful! God knows that looks can be deceiving. He also knows that the heart can change, for better or for worse! Jesse thought "...Surely the Lord's anointed is before him." referring to his son, Eliab. David, the youngest and tender of sheep, was the LORD's choice.

“But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.”
